About

My name is Rick.  I got my first taste of photography in high school photo class where I learned to handle a camera, develop, and print.  I have been shooting on and off for the past 20 years and have grown a passion for photography over the years.  Capturing a moment with a camera is something that still amazes me.  I shoot with both digital and film cameras and have grown to appreciate the differences with each medium.

I plan on using a variety of cameras, film, developers, and scanning techniques throughout the year.  I hope my experiences will be helpful. Please come back often to see how things progress.

Project

In 2011, I set out to shoot a roll of film every week. During this time I learned to slow down, think about the shot, and enjoy the art of photography. During that time I sent all my film to a local lab to develop and scan my negatives.  Fast forward five years…

I am embarking on another roll a week project. However, this time I plan on developing and scanning my own negatives.  I hope to share some of my experience with you as a way to inform and to do my part to keep the art of film photography alive.

Gear

I have collected a nice assortment of cameras over the years.  For this project I will shoot with the following film cameras:

Leica M6, Voightlander Bessa R2M, Canon Canonet QL17 GIII, Rollei B35, Olympus XA2, Canon AE-1 Program, Holga 35, Holga 120, or anything else that may come my way.

I plan on experimenting with the following film:

Kodak Tri-X 400, Kodak TMAX 400, Ilford HP5+.  These are just a start. However, I will shoot with whatever comes my way or piques my interest throughout my journey.
